- Royal Enfield opens new assembly plant in Nepal
- Will assemble Classic 350, Scram 411
- Factory can assemble 20,000 bikes per year
Royal Enfield has decided to set up a new factory in Nepal. This factory will assemble certain motorcycles and sell them in Nepal.
The company has joined hands with Triveni Group for this CKD plant, which has been set up at Birgunj. This plant will receive parts from Royal Enfield’s main factory in Tamil Nadu, which will be used to assemble two motorcycles – the Classic 350 and the Scram 411. Currently, this factory can produce 20,000 bikes a year. This number could increase in the next few years, depending on how the market performs.
Royal Enfield believes there’s a big market in Nepal for specific bikes, and it wants to capture some of it. The company claims that Nepal is a market of 1.6 million motorcycles annually, and nearly 65 per cent of the bikes are above the 150cc segment. The market is expected to grow by 15 per cent in the upcoming years, and Royal Enfield is making sure to make its presence felt when that happens.
