- To be a derivative of the Interceptor 650
- Could retain the same 648cc parallel-twin engine from the current line
- Will adorn proper ADV attire
With the newly leaked documents, Royal Enfield’s plans are now open. So, apart from the electric Himalayan, Royal Enfield is also working on another ADV based on its 650cc platform. This bike is dubbed as a derivative of the current Interceptor 650 (lead model) and here’s what you should know about it.
Although the leaked image only reveals a silhouette of the bike, it’s evident that the upcoming middleweight off-roader from Royal Enfield will adorn proper ADV bodywork. It’ll be offered alongside the scrambler which has already been spotted in testing.
From the looks of it, the probable Himalayan 650 could feature scooped rider seat with a large pillion seat and tail rack. Meanwhile, the font end appears to house a tall windscreen and an upright handlebar. The exhaust is also upswept, which could add to the bike’s off-roading capabilities. We expect LED illumination and tripper navigation on this model.
As mentioned, the new ADV will be derived from the Interceptor 650. However, the new model could only borrow the 648cc parallel-twin motor and nestle in a completely different chassis. It'll be suspended on long travel front and rear forks. The silhouette also reveals the front spoked wheel being considerably larger than the rear.
Overall, the new Royal Enfield 650cc ADV is in its nascent stage. And it’ll be a while before the development cycle proceeds ahead we see the final product in the market.
