- New 250cc bike from Royal Enfield
- First rumours started in 2019
- Could carry a Rs 1.2 lakh price tag
Looks like talks about the famous 250cc motorcycle from Royal Enfield are back. A new 250cc platform is rumoured to be under development at the company’s UK as well as India technical center.
It was in mid-2019 when there were first reports about a new 250cc motorcycle from Royal Enfield. However, that project was put on hold for reasons unknown to us. But it looks like the company has started working on this project once again, and within a few years, we could see a 250cc bike from Royal Enfield.
For years, Royal Enfield kept telling the world that it would like to do business in 350cc-750cc segments. But the success of the Hunter 350 – its most affordable motorcycle right now ¬– has tempted the brand to tap the lower displacement market. The 250cc segment is filled with a lot of motorcycles from various brands, but there’s definitely a big space for Royal Enfield to operate.
As of now, there aren’t much details about this motorcycle’s platform, but it could be a basic 250cc platform, without a lot of features. While the company would stick to its character when it comes to aesthetics, the overall performance could be a bit unexciting.
Royal Enfield could price the first motorcycle from this platform around Rs 1.25 lakh which will make a lot of brands quite nervous. The Hunter 350’s starting price is from Rs 1.5 lakh and that has attracted quite a few Indian consumers.
