Royal Enfield has announced the commencement of the operations of its new Completely Knocked Down (CKD) assembly facility in Brazil. Located in Manaus, this new facility is the fourth Royal Enfield CKD assembly unit across the world. The other three overseas facilities are located in Thailand, Colombia, and Argentina.
This new facility has a capacity of more than 15,000 units per year and it will engage in the local assembly of the entire line-up of Royal Enfield motorcycles. These include the new Classic 350, Meteor 350, Himalayan, and the 650 twin motorcycles.
Speaking about the new facility, B Govindarajan, CEO, Royal Enfield, said that the company has been working extensively to grow the middleweight motorcycling segment globally. He further added that Brazil has been a very strong market for Royal Enfield, and is soon poised to be the single largest market for the company outside of India.
Royal Enfield added in its press statement that Brazil has been a critical market for the company since the brand’s market foray in 2017. Having made significant strides in the country and across the entire Americas Region, Royal Enfield is now among the top five players in the mid-size motorcycle segment in markets such as Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, and North America.
In other updates, the company has unveiled its new 650cc motorcycle, the Super Meteor 650 at the recently concluded EICMA show in Italy and this product is expected to be launched in our market very soon. In fact, as reported earlier, the deliveries of the Super Meteor 650 are expected to commence in February 2023.
