Royal Enfield has introduced a newer version of its mesh jacket - the Streetwind, but in an eco-friendly format. This new jacket is called Streetwind Eco and is made from recycled plastic bottles and a host of other recycled materials.
This is the first time an Indian motorcycle maker has tried something like this. The company claims that this jacket is made using 100 per cent recycled materials and to make one jacket, a total of 75 plastic pet bottles have been used. As of now, the company has made over 5400 such jackets and to make it, a total of 4.1 lakh plastic pet bottles have been used. Even the shell and mesh fabric have been recycled along with the famous Cordura. Through this route, the company is looking to expand its eco-friendly initiatives.
The Streetwind Eco uses Ergo Pro Tech CE level two armour to offer good protection. The jacket comes with shoulder and elbow guards which are being claimed to offer good breathability and protection. As of now, this jacket doesnt come with a back protector, and it is also not being offered as an option.
The Streetwind Eco has been priced at Rs 5950 and is being offered in three colours - Blue, Yellow and Off white. The jacket can be purchased from the company’s official website.
