Royal Enfield is planning to launch track schools in India this year. With this initiative, the company aims to provide a stepping stone for racing aspirants to learn and develop their track riding and racing skills. The Chennai-based two-wheeler maker has further plans to launch track schools in the near future to encourage rider skill development. The announcement comes on the heels of the Royal Enfield Continental GT Cup 2021 which was recently concluded at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore.
The inaugural season witnessed the participation of the top 18 riders from different parts of the country. The Royal Enfield Continental GT Cup 2021, which made its debut in September 2021, was staged across four rounds. The competition used specially modified Royal Enfield Continental GT-R650 that received a retro fairing, stiffer suspension, a more committed riding posture, and stainless steel exhausts.
The inaugural season of the championship received entries from nearly 500 racing enthusiasts. The selection process witnessed participation from over 100 riders and the 18 fastest riders made it to the final grid. Anish Damodar Shetty from Hubli emerged as the National Cup Champion. Shetty accumulated 64 points over the four rounds of the championship. He was followed by Allwin Xavier and Anfal Akdhar with 61 points and 40 points, respectively.
