Royal Enfield has finally decided to bring about some major upgrades to its highest-selling model, the Classic 350. In fact, its elder sibling, the Classic 500 will also get the updates.
According to a leaked document, Royal Enfield will launch a new gunmetal grey colour for the Classic 350. It will also be equipped with rear disc brake and upgraded swing arm from the Thunderbird range. Currently, the Classic 350 gets 153mm drum at the rear which provides decent braking performance. With the addition of a rear disc, the Classic 350 is surely going to have better stopping power.
The Chennai-based manufacturer is also upgrading the Classic 500 cosmetically and mechanically. It will be offered with a new stealth black paint scheme and will also get the same rear brake disc and swing arm setup as the Thunderbird model. With the new swingarm in place, the dynamics of the bikes should be improved but we would like to reserve this judgement until we ride them.
We’re expecting the next big change on these bikes to be the addition of anti-lock braking system (ABS). That will happen as we closer to 2019, when ABS will be made mandatory for two-wheelers that are currently on sale. All new bikes and scooters that will be launched after April 2018, will need to have ABS. We contacted Royal Enfield to know more about this new launch but didn't get any revert.
