Royal Enfield has reported its year-on-year sales data for December 2022 and the Chennai-based manufacturer registered a seven per cent decline in the recently concluded month. The company sold 68,400 motorcycles in December 2022 as against 73,739 units in the corresponding month last year.
The domestic sales declined by eight per cent and Royal Enfield sold 59,821 in the Indian market in December 2022 as against 65,187 motorcycles in December 2021. Further, the company exported 8,579 motorcycles during the month as compared to 8,552 units in December 2021.
Meanwhile, the two-wheeler maker registered a 48 per cent increase in the year-to-date numbers, selling 6,16,370 motorcycles from April-December 2022 as against 4,16,593 units in the corresponding period of 2021. Domestic sales during this period increased by 50 per cent while exports grew by 32 per cent.
Speaking about the sales performance for December 2022, B Govindarajan, CEO, Royal Enfield, said that the company strengthened its foothold in the overseas market with the inauguration of its fourth CKD facility outside India in Brazil. He further added that the company is now geared up to launch the Super Meteor 650.
