Royal Enfield Scrambler 650 spotted testing again

- Production-ready Scrambler 650 spotted testing

- Gets a round digital console

- Official launch might take place later this year

The 650cc scrambler from Royal Enfield has been spotted testing on public roads once again, indicating that we are inching closer to its official launch. While it is based on the same platform as the Interceptor 650, it will get a host of changes to be more adventure-ready than all the 650cc REs on sale right now.

The most significant hardware change decipherable from the spy shots is what looks like a 19-17-inch spoke wheel combination. Moreover, the suspension travel at both ends also looks more than all the existing 650cc Royal Enfields. Both these revisions should contribute to a taller stance and a higher ground clearance thereby making it suitable for off-roading. What’s more, the seat design, underseat panels, and both the fenders also look new and unique to this motorcycle.

Royal Enfield’s upcoming 650cc scrambler looks technologically more advanced than most of its existing stablemates. One of the spy shots reveals a round digital console which is perhaps the same unit as seen on the new Himalayan 450. This unit should have functions like Bluetooth connectivity and GPS navigation. Even the lighting system looks all-LED, including the turn indicators.

Powering the bike will be the same 648cc, parallel-twin engine that produces 47bhp and 52Nm of peak torque. However, RE might slightly change the tuning of this mill for the scrambler to suit its character.

The Royal Enfield Scrambler 650 might be launched later this year or early next year and, in terms of priding, it is expected to be positioned between the Interceptor 650 and Super Meteor 650 in the company’s portfolio.
