- Electric motorcycles under development
- Launch timeline not decided
- Will launch only when battery packs are priced low
Just like other two-wheeler brands, Royal Enfield has been working on developing new electric bikes. It has been doing slowly and silently as has no plans to launch these bikes anytime soon.
According to our sources, Royal Enfield has readied a platform that will be used to build more than two electric motorcycles. As of now, these bikes are in their early stages of development. The brand is taking extremely slow steps in this segment as it believes the later the launch of the electric bikes, the better it will be in terms of business propositions. While the development costs may increase over time, at the time of market launch, the cost of battery packs is bound to be much lower and Royal Enfield wants to wait to make full use of it.
As of now, Royal Enfield wants to focus on expanding its 350cc and 650cc line-up. It will be busy launching 450cc bikes till 2026-2027 and post that, the Indian market will see the second-generation J platform which currently has been codenamed J2. The electric bikes have no dedicated launch timeline currently, but they could be brought forward or even pushed by a few years depending on the market conditions.
