- The decision was pending due to Aravind’s injuries
- Other three riders include Michael Metge, Adrien Metge and Lorenzo Santalino
- Dakar 2019 will take place in Peru from 6 to 17 January
Sherco TVS Factory Rally Team announced that Arvind KP has been finalised as its fourth rider to compete in the Dakar 2019 rally raid. He will be joining the team of Michael Metge and Adrien Metge from France and Lorenzo Santalino from Spain, to battle it out in the world’s most treacherous rally event.
As we had reported earlier, TVS Sherco had already selected Michael, Adrien and Lorenzo as its first three riders based on their performances in the Baja Aragon, PanAfrica Rally and the Rally of Morocco. However, the decision on the fourth Indian rider was pending as TVS couldn’t confirm Aravind owing to his injuries sustained in PanAfrica rally. The announcement has been finally made after Aravind cleared his fitness test. This is the third time Aravind will be participating in the iconic rally event. The riders will be competing astride the RTR 450 rally motorcycle configured specially for Dakar.
Set to take place from 6 January to 17 January 2019, this will be the 41st edition of Dakar Rally. Unlike every year, only one country – Peru will be hosting the grand rally event. The riders will start from Lima, will be crossing through tough terrains of Pisco, San Juan De Marcona and Arequipa to reach the finishing point in Moquegua. The rally course spans across 5000km along the borders of Peru.
