Simple Energy, a Bangalore-based electric two-wheeler maker, has revealed the name of its first electric scooter that’ll be officially launched on 15 August, 2021. As revealed by the brand, it will be called the ‘Simple One’, trademark for which has already been filed. Until now, it was codenamed the Mark2 and Simple Energy has already revealed certain details about the e-scooter.
The main highlight of the Simple One will be its claimed battery range of as much as 240km. This aspect will give it an edge over its rivals like the Ather 450X, Bajaj Chetak and the TVS iQube. It will also face competition from the Ola electric scooter that will be launched in the coming months. Moreover, the EV maker also aims to price it competitively, somewhere in the ballpark of Rs 1.10-1.20 lakh.
Besides an impressive range from its 4.8kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the Simple One is also claimed to deliver a relatively high top speed of 100kmph. Furthermore, the company has revealed that the scooter’s mid-drive electric motor can accelerate from zero to 50kmph in 3.6 seconds. As for the design, from what we have deciphered from its images, the Simple One looks compact yet sporty and radical. A touchscreen instrument cluster could also be on offer.
Simple Energy will launch its first electric scooter in Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad initially, followed by its entry into other cities at a later stage.
