- Simple Energy to launch its first electric scooter on 15 August, 2021
- It will have a top speed of 100kmph
- Claimed battery range is up to 240km
Simple Energy, a Bangalore-based electric two-wheeler start-up, is all set to enter the Indian EV space this year. The company will launch its first flagship electric scooter on 15 August, 2021.
The scooter has been codenamed Mark2 and its claimed specifications seem difficult to emulate by any other existing electric two-wheeler in India. It will be powered by a 4.8kW lithium-ion battery with a range of up to 240km in Eco mode. Moreover, the top speed it will be capable of achieving is said to be 100kmph with a zero to 50kmph acceleration time of 3.6 seconds.
The Mark2 will also be top-notch on the modernity front. The battery of the scooter will be removable while it will boast features like a touch-sensitive fully-digital console, on-board navigation, Bluetooth, and much more. What’s more, it is quite admirable in terms of design as well. The body panels have sharp contours and angular lines running across its handlebar cowl, lean front apron, and sleek rear section.
Simple Energy will price the Mark2 electric scooter between Rs 1.10 lakh-1.20 lakh. It will compete against the likes of the Ather 450X, Bajaj Chetak, and the TVS iQube. After initially launching it in Bangalore, the company will also make it available in Chennai and Hyderabad at a later stage.
