Harley-Davidson’s first made-in-India motorcycle is set to debut soon. Now, its test bike images have been leaked online. The pictures reveal abundant information about the design, probable features, and hardware. Let’s take a look at Harley’s likely-to-be most affordable motorcycle.
From the first look, the India-bound Harley-Davidson seems quite enticing. Its fascia is quite simple and neat as there’s just a round headlight with a horizontal LED DRL inside. The single-pod instrument console sits above it and houses a digital setup.
The cluster comprises a speedometer, a tachometer with 8,000rpm of maximum reading, a fuel level indicator, and the time readout. Unlike traditional Harley-Davidson bikes that get a thorough cruiser design, this one seems to follow a streetfighter approach.
Details like its name and engine capacity are not known yet. However, the test bike seen here sports a 4XX plate which hints that the motor could be around 400cc, and we expect it to be close to 420cc. With the redline set to 8,000rpm, we expect the bike to pack abundant torque and have a healthy mid-range as well. It’ll be linked to a six-speed gearbox.
The Harley-Davidson bike gets USD front forks and dual rear shocks on the hardware front. Meanwhile, the braking hardware comes from ByBre and comprises a single front and rear unit with ABS. It is likely to run 18-inch alloy wheel upfront and 17-inch at the back and the tyres are CEAT Zoom ones. The spy images also indicate a fairly finished product instead of the rough test mules that we see often. So the likelihood of an official announcement from Harley-Davidson India is high.
This could be Harley-Davidson’s smallest offering for India, and it has been developed and will be manufactured by Hero MotoCorp. So, we won’t be surprised if a Hero bike spawns on the same platform in the future. The asking price for this Harley product could be around Rs. 2.5 - 3 lakh (ex-showroom) and it’ll have the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and the Meteor 350 as its rivals.
