- Top-spec V1 Gara gets a 100bhp motor
- Offers a range of up to 160km
-Unlikely to be launched in India
Soriano Motori has revealed the specifications of its first electric motorcycle christened the Giugiaro. The motorcycle was globally unveiled in June.
It is offered in three variants- the V1R, V1S, and top-spec V1 Gara. All variants use two motors that are arranged in a ‘boxer’ arrangement although with varying power. The flagship V1 Gara features a 100bhp peak-rated electric motor with a 0-100kph time of 3.5 seconds. While this puts it on par with the Zero SR/F, it is half a second slower than the Harley-Davidson LiveWire. The Giugiaro V1S’s 96bhp motor has a 0-100kph time of 4.4 seconds. On the other hand, the base V1R is also capable of reaching the 100kph mark in 4.4 seconds.
The Italian manufacturer is offering an option of a 15 kWh or 20 kWh battery pack that claim to offer a range of up to 160km. However, the most interesting aspect of the Soriano Motori Giugiaro is its use of a manual gearbox-- something which is unheard of in current electric motorcycles. It uses a three-speed transmission for better performance.
Nevertheless, the Soriano Motori Giugiaro is limited to just 100 units for its debut production run. The manufacturer has pegged the base V1R at EUR 25,000 (approx. Rs 21 lakh) while the top-spec V1 Gara is priced at EUR 30,000 (approx. Rs 25 lakh). While pre-bookings for the motorcycles have begun in international markets, it is unlikely to be offered in India anytime soon.
