- Spotted testing near Pune
- Likely powered by the same motor as the new KTM 250 Duke
- Could be launched early next year
The upcoming Husqvarna Vitpiilen 250 has been spotted testing en route to Pune. These spy shots reveal even more design details and it seems that the bike could head into production very soon.
When compared to the predecessor, the upcoming Vitpilen 250 looks chunkier. Its headlight has a new bezel, and the tank cover appears beefier, thanks to the new design. Although covered in camouflage, it’s evident that the quarter-litre Husqvarna is undergoing significant design changes. Even the front fender is different and now covers the sides too.
Since Husqvarna and KTM, both are under the Bajaj umbrella, the new Vitpilen 250 is likely to be manufactured at Bajaj’s Pune plant. It will borrow the 250 Duke’s engine. The setup comprises a 249cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor that develops 31bhp and 25Nm. It gets a six-speed gearbox and a quickshifter.
On closer inspection, the Husqvarna bike also shares other components with the new KTM siblings. The USD front fork, offset monoshock, front and rear disc brakes with ABS, swingarm and wheels appear similar to what we see on the new KTM 250 and 390 Duke(s). That said, Vitpilen’s rider triangle is different than those of the KTM bikes. The rider is sat a tad committed since the handlebar is forward and the footpegs on the rear. Along with LED illumination, we also expect features like a TFT screen on the upcoming Husqvarna 250cc bike.
We expect Husqvarna to launch the bike in early 2024. Once launched, it will rival the BMW G 310 R, KTM 250 Duke, and the Honda CB300R.
