- Could be one of the biggest projects of Bajaj Auto
- Likely to be launched in a year
- Features design cues similar to the existing CT model
A new Bajaj commuter has been spotted testing in Pune. Since it is heavily camouflaged, it makes the portions look deceptive. However, on closer inspection, the new test mule has similarities to the existing Bajaj CT125X. Here’s what it could be.
The test mule and the CT125X have a round headlight flanked by sizeable bulb turn indicators and topped by the license plate. Then, the two also feature a common-esque handlebar with a brace and girthy front forks. While the CT125X’s front springs come with gaiters, the test mule’s units are covered and it, too, could get a similar rubber piece. Although it is heavily covered in black and white camouflage, the seat appears to be a single-piece unit. Going by the trend, commuters are mostly equipped with a single-piece seat for better space and cost control, too.
Elsewhere, it also gets an engine crash guard, saree guard with an integrated foot rest, and a rear tyre hugger, too. Moreover, the engine casing appears to have fins, so the test mule is likely running an air-cooled motor. While the wheel design is different, the front disc's size and shape are the same for the test mule and the CT125X. Other elements like the handleguards and thick footpegs also hint at a rugged design approach for the bike.
Our sources have revealed that this could be one of the biggest projects of Bajaj Auto in the commuter segment and could be launched in a year from now. Moreover, we think the bike could be a 150cc commuter since the segment still has space for an affordable model. As of now, Bajaj has the Pulsar 150 and the Pulsar N150 in its 150cc portfolio. But with the launch of the CT150X, it could cater to a larger audience in the rural market as well as tier-3 cities.
