The Suzuki Intruder has been launched in India at Rs 98,340 (ex-showroom). Based on the Gixxer’s platform, the Intruder is targeted at the urban youth looking for a premium commuter bike which can double up as a touring motorcycle on weekends.
The low-slung exhaust, sculpted fuel tank, triangular headlamp and dual-outlet exhaust give the Intruder the look of a muscle bike. The instrument console has been borrowed from the Gixxer. Apart from the usual functions, it features a clock, gear indicator and shift indicator. At the heart of the Intruder is a 155cc single-cylinder engine, delivering 14.6bhp and 14Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a five-speed transmission.
The Intruder rides on 41mm telescopic front forks and a seven-step preload adjustable rear monoshock. It gets 17-inch alloy wheels, with a radial tyre at the rear. Brake setup consists of discs at the front and the rear, with a single-channel ABS offered as standard.
The Intruder is offered in two paint schemes – black and silver. For now, it is only available with a carburetted engine, and the FI variant is expected to be launched in the next few months. As a 155cc cruiser, the Intruder competes against the Bajaj Avenger 150 Street. However, it also shares the market space with other premium commuter bikes like the Honda CB Hornet 160R, Bajaj Avenger 220, TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and the Pulsar NS200.
