- 63,879 units sold in the domestic market
- 13,970 units exported during the month
- First batch of 2021 Hayabusa sold out within two days of launch
Suzuki Motorcycle India has recorded 77,849-unit sales in April 2021. The number includes 63,879 units that were sold in the domestic while 13,970 units were exported, registering an overall growth of 18 per cent as against April 2019.
The company announced the launch of its flagship product, the 2021 Hayabusa in the Indian market last month. All 101 units from the first batch of the motorcycle were sold out within two days of its launch. The next batch is expected to arrive very soon. All 101 buyers received a complementary rear cowl with the Hayabusa.
Speaking about the sales performance, Koichiro Hirao, Managing Director, Suzuki Motorcycle India, said that the company achieved the numbers despite all the challenges associated with the second surge of the COVID-19 pandemic in April. The company registered 12 per cent growth in domestic and 57.5 per cent growth in export volumes as against April 2019.
Last year, Suzuki Motorcycle India introduced the ‘Suzuki at your Doorstep’ program, a doorstep sales and after sales service platform to meet the customer demand, during and post COVID-19 lockdown.
