- Limited edition GSX-8S unveiled
- Only five bikes will ever be made
- Sold in Italy only
Suzuki has decided to launch one of their rarest motorcycles ever – the GSX-8S Kevin Schwantz Edition. The brand will make only five units of this and will be signed by the man himself.
This special edition has been made to pay tribute to the legendary rider Kevin Schwantz. He was recently seen riding this 1993 championship-winning RGV500 in one of the events in Italy. The five special edition bikes that will go on sale will be signed by the ex-racer and a certificate of authenticity will also be provided by Suzuki.
This special edition GSX-8S gets the iconic red and white paint scheme with his race number ‘34’ printed on the tank shrouds. The wheels have been dipped in white as well and the pillion seat has been removed to accommodate the seat cover. The additions are limited to aesthetics only.
The GSX-8S gets its power from a 776cc, parallel-twin engine that churns out 81.7bhp and 77.6Nm. This power output puts it in direct contention with the Yamaha MT-07 and Kawasaki Z650 as well as the KTM 790 Duke and Triumph Street Triple. When it comes to features, the Suzuki comes with ride-by-wire, traction control and ride modes. It also gets a two-way quickshifter, low RPM assist, full-LED lighting and a five-inch TFT display.
Suzuki India is likely to launch the GSX-8S later this year, along with its ADV sibling. But the prices are expected to be around the Rs 9 lakh- Rs 10 lakh mark. The prices could be marginally lesser if the brand decides to assemble the bikes in India.
