SWM is planning to introduce new V-twin powered motorcycles with their engine displacement ranging from 350cc to 1200cc with varying body styles. The manufacturer’s Chinese parent company Shineray released an image that reveals the four engine types.
Reports suggest that the smallest 350cc V-twin will be targeted at new riders while a bigger 550cc motorcycle will be a commuter bike for city use. There will also be an 850cc V-twin powered cruiser motorcycle and a 1200cc bike expected to be either a supersport or streetfighter. However, the firm did not give a specific timeline as to when these motorcycles will be introduced.
The manufacturer currently has a mixture of Shineray and Husqvarna designs. However, they’re all single-cylinder motorcycles, so the move to V-twins will be a new era for SWM. The new models will be introduced wearing both the Shineray and SWM brand names. While the motorcycles sold in China will be under the Shineray brand, the international models will feature the SWM branding.
SWM will also be part of Kinetic’s Motoroyale line-up in India for this year. The brand will be positioned as a premium brand but will be placed below MV Agusta. SWM’s first products in the country will be 600cc adventure touring motorcycles in the form of the Superdual T and the Superdual X; expected sometime this month.
We can expect the brand to get its V-twin powered motorcycles to India after they are launched globally.
