Taiwan-based Gogoro homologates two electric scooters in India

- Gogoro 2 and Gogoro 2 Plus homologated in India

- Acquired documents mention a range of up to 94km

- Top speed rated at 87kmph

Taiwan-based electric two-wheeler and battery-swapping brand, Gogoro, has successfully homologated two electric scooter models in India. In case you’ve forgotten, Gogoro announced its India entry in back in November 2022 in association with Zypp Electric for a B2B pilot project.

Gogoro has homologated the 2 Series electric scooters including standard and Plus models. However, products listed on the brand’s Indian website include the Premium and Plus iterations of the vehicle. Also, these scooters are not being locally manufactured in India but imported from Taiwan, as is mentioned in the homologation documents acquired by us.

Talking about the specifications of the e-scooters mentioned in the documents, there are subtle differences between them. While the Gogoro 2’s motor produces 7.2kW of power output, the Plus is capable of making slightly lower 6.4kW of power. However, the former is rated to deliver a range of 85km which is lesser than the Plus’ 94Km of the claimed range. What’s common between both variants is the maximum speed of 87kmph, gross weight of 273kg, 1,890mm length, 670mm width, and 1,110mm height.

Now, the launch timeline, regional availability, and pricing of the Gogoro 2 and Gogoro 2 Plus are not known yet. We might get an official statement on this soon. However, what the company confirmed in November last year is that its advanced battery-swapping platform will be introduced in India.
