2022 has been an adventurous year for the world of motorcycles in India. Because some launches were exciting, but a few didn’t change any segment or make a big difference. But in the end, the Indian consumers benefitted the most as now they have more options. So as a yearly ritual, the Indian Motorcycle of the Year (IMOTY) jury will recognize that one motorcycle, based on many criteria, with the prestigious IMOTY award. Here are the top ten motorcycles eligible for this year’s award.
The most affordable motorcycle in this year’s IMOTY is from Bajaj – the Pulsar N160. This Pulsar gets a new design language and a motor that churns out close to 16bhp. A price tag of Rs 1.51 lakh on-road Mumbai means it is priced close to its 250cc sibling.
The next on the list is the new Royal Enfield Hunter 350 – a motorcycle based on the Classic 350 and Meteor 350 but with smaller wheels, a fancier paint scheme and accessible seat height. This one costs Rs 1.79 lakh on-road Mumbai.
From TVS, there’s the new Ronin – a neo-retro motorcycle developed to do the duties in the cities and highways. It is known for its off-set instrument cluster and two ABS modes and has a price tag of Rs 1.81 lakh on-road Mumbai.
The Yezdi Scrambler is next on the list. It is the most affordable scrambler in India and possibly one of the coolest-looking bikes. It has a liquid-cooled motor that makes 29bhp and has a price tag of Rs 2.45 lakh on-road Mumbai.
There’s another Yezdi in this contender list, and it is called the Adventure. This ADV gets a capable motor, good ground clearance and belongs to a famous brand. The Adventure makes marginally more power than its scrambler cousin and costs Rs 2.45 lakh on-road Mumbai.
From Suzuki, it’s the V-Strom SX – an adventure touring motorcycle that gets a smart 250cc 26bhp oil-cooled motor. This bike is known for its excellent NVH, balance and comfort. Suzuki has priced this motorcycle at Rs 2.54 lakh on-road Mumbai.
From Honda, we have the CB300F – a sharp-looking motorcycle developed for the urban jungle. Its 24bhp air-cooled motor churns out a good performance for the city and is also known for its good fuel efficiency. This Honda retails at Rs 2.74 lakh on-road Mumbai.
The BMW G310RR is the most affordable fully-faired BMW in India. The combination of good styling, great performance from a 34bhp motor and a German connection makes it one extremely aspirational motorcycle. This BMW is priced at Rs 3.38 lakh on-road Mumbai.
The brand-new KTM RC390 is also on this year’s contender list. The revised seating ergonomics, brand-new styling and bigger air box, have made the RC390 a much more practical bike than its predecessor. It is the most expensive made-in-India motorcycle on this year’s list.
The final bike is also the priciest on this year’s list, and that’s because it is assembled in India. The Triumph Tiger Sport 660 is a Rs 10.60 lakh motorcycle but also the most powerful. And yes, it is also the most affordable Tiger in India.
