- QJ Motor has received the type approval for four different trims in China
- It’s powered by a 650cc V-twin motor
- Benelli could benefit from this model given its association with QJ Motor
Chinese two-wheeler manufacturer QJ Motor (Benelli’s parent company) has finally received type approval for its upcoming middleweight offering. The 650cc ADV has been approved in four trims and here’s what you should know about it.
First off, the design language for QJ Motor’s upcoming ADV is pretty unconventional. Unlike many current models with a sharp front end and beak, the Chinese middleweight seems to adopt a more Dakar-bike-like/Africa Twin-esque facia. The vertically stacked headlight is topped by a mildly tall windscreen and is flanked by LED turn indicators.
QJ Motor has received the type approval for the bike with spoked wheels/with alloys and with and without luggage. This means the manufacturer is aiming at making the 650cc versatile enough for both on and off-road purposes.
The type-approved documents reveal that it’ll be powered by a 650cc V-tiwn liquid-cooled motor. It’ll be tuned to belt out 75bhp, which is 5.3bhp more than the Suzuki V-Strom 650. However, the QJ Motor ADV will tip the weight scale at 219kg.
Furthermore, it’s suspended on telescopic forks and an adjustable monoshock. Meanwhile, braking hardware consists of dual front discs and a single rear disc with dual-channel ABS. It even gets a crash guard covering the entire fairing, knuckle guards and a bash plate as well. All these bits make its off-road intentions even clear.
Considering Benelli and QJ Motor’s association, the former could benefit from the QJ Motor ADV. However, it already has the TRK lineup in its portfolio, so we are yet to see how the model positioning would be done.
