- Trademark documents reveal new names
- Could be used for the brand’s upcoming CNG bike
- Likely to be trademarked for the sake of securing the names too
Bajaj Auto has trademarked not one but three new names recently. These are Freedom, Trekker, and Glider. Now, two of the three trademarks above, Trekker and Glider were filed on 29 January and have also been accepted. Meanwhile, Freedom is still under examination and was applied on 9 February.
The trademarks came shortly after we got to know about Bajaj’s upcoming CNG motorcycle plans. So, maybe the Chakan-based bikemaker is securing these names to use one of them for its CNG bike. Historically, brands have also reserved names just for the sake of it. And it won’t be a surprise if this turns out to be a similar case.
Speaking of the CNG bike, it will debut this year in June. Bajaj will pit its first CNG bike against the 100-160cc offerings in the Indian market. Moreover, Bajaj’s current commuter bikes including the Platina and CT100 cater to the rural market but with the introduction of CNG-powered motorcycle, it will also be able to serve the cities with high dependency and availability on CNG.
It will take a while before we get to know more details about the bike. Lastly, Bajaj has also been updating its existing 125cc, 160cc and 200cc products.
