Tokyo Motor Show 2017: Honda PCX electric scooter unveiled

Honda has added yet another green vehicle in its portfolio, the PCX electric scooter. Developed for the Asian market, the PCX EV is scheduled to go on sale next year.

This PCX gets almost the same design and style from its petrol-powered sibling. But the usage of white and blue paint along with a sharp nose makes it look as if it is a part of some sci-fi film. This two-wheeler is powered by Honda’s new high-output motor and also sports two detachable lithium ion battery packs. With this approach, the rider can remove the battery and charge it anywhere. The charger is integrated and can be accessed through the outlet placed between the legs. The instrument cluster on this model is all digital. It gets a nice layout that displays ride data in an easy manner.

Honda India had showcased the PCX 125 at 2015 Auto Expo. Unfortunately, this scooter hasn’t made it to India yet. Will the electric PCX come to India? Eventually it will but not in the near future. Government plans to sell electric vehicles only by 2030 and that’s when Honda might think of getting the PCX EV to India.
