Top 4 reasons why Hero Xtreme Sports is better than Xtreme

The Xtreme Sports was Hero MotoCorp’s answer to the growing 150cc premium motorcycle segment. However, with the Xtreme already on sale for the last 18 months, the Xtreme Sports looks like a confused buy. We clear your doubts by bringing you our top four reasons why the Xtreme Sports is better than the Xtreme.

Price

The Hero Xtreme is sold at Rs 75,025 (ex-showroom New Delhi), whereas the Xtreme Sports is priced at Rs 75,725 (ex-showroom New Delhi). (This pricing is for the self-start, double disc brake alloy wheel version) For just Rs 700, the Xtreme Sports offers more value and features and that makes this motorcycle a better choice.  In case of the lower variant, which just gets disc brake at the front and drum at the rear, the Xtreme Sports is just Rs 770 more expensive that the Xtreme.

Styling

While the Hero Xtreme was never considered to be a very good looking motorcycle, it still had a contemporary design approach. However, the Xtreme Sports looks much better and refreshing. The sharp design cues runs across the body panels, and there is the belly pan to give the bike a sportier look. In case of the Xtreme, Hero MotoCorp has taken a sober approach while designing it. The instrument cluster of the Xtreme Sports is refreshing and looks much better than the one on the Xtreme.

Power

Both the bikes – the Xtreme and the Xtreme Sports uses the same 149cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine. But there is a difference in power figures. The Xtreme churns out 14.2bhp at 8500rpm and a maximum torque of 12.80Nm at 6500rpm. However, the Xtreme Sports churns out 1.4bhp more at 15.6bhp. It also offers more torque at 13.50Nm at 7000rpm.

Comfort

Hero MotoCorp has equipped the Xtreme Sports with comfortable seats. The quality of the seat material is excellent, so is the cushioning. Due to this, the overall ride experience is much better than the Xtreme. For long distance riding, the wide clip-on handle bar and good seats proves to be a major help.
