Top five most affordable ABS bikes in India

The anti-lock braking system is now mandatory in two-wheelers with over 125cc powerplant, according to the government’s new safety norm which came into effect on 1 April 2019. This compelled the manufacturers to actively equip their products with the safety net which ultimately resulted in a hike in their prices. However, there are still a few bikes which, even after getting equipped with ABS, are available with an attractive price tag. In that case, let’s take a look at the five most affordable bikes with ABS in India.

5. TVS Apache RTR 180

The TVS Apache RTR 180 costs Rs 95,292 and at this price, this is the most affordable dual-channel ABS-equipped motorcycle one can buy in India. Although the design of the motorcycle looks dated, it still remains popular amongst youngsters in the country. The motorcycle is powered by a 177cc, air-cooled motor which produces 17.3bhp of power and 15.5Nm of torque.

4. Honda X-Blade

The Honda X-Blade is a sporty commuter which offers comfortable ergonomics while looking profoundly aggressive. The edgy design of the X-Blade is complemented by a radical-looking headlamp which houses LED lights while it also sports a fully-digital instrument cluster. Priced at Rs 88,294, the Honda X-Blade makes its way to this list as it comes equipped with a single-channel ABS unit.

3. Bajaj Avenger 160

Bajaj recently replaced its cruiser offering, the Avenger Street 180 with its 160cc iteration. The Avenger Street 160 retains most of its components from the Street 180, except for the engine. The former is powered by a 160cc, single-cylinder mill that produces 15.3bhp and 14.6Nm and it is mated to a five-speed gearbox. Featuring a single-channel ABS unit, the Bajaj Avenger Street 160 retails at Rs 81,037 which is Rs 7,000 less than the Avenger Street 180.

2. Honda Unicorn 150

Next up in the list is Honda’s long-running 150cc commuter motorcycle, the CB Unicorn 150. The motorcycle hasn’t received any major update for a long time. However, the recipe of a refined motor, comfortable ergonomics and a simple design is working for the Japanese brand even today. Moreover, the introduction of ABS has made the motorcycle safer now. The CB Unicorn 150 carries a price tag of Rs 79,133.

1. Bajaj Pulsar 150 Neon

Bajaj recently introduced the Neon styling package for its Pulsar 150 and the Pulsar 180F models. The former has been among the highest selling models for the Chakan-based manufacturer and the introduction of ABS has helped it in staying relevant in the market. Powering the motorcycle is a 149cc, carbureted motor which churns out 13.8bhp and 13.4Nm while this power is transferred to the rear wheel via a five-speed gearbox. The Bajaj Pulsar 150 Neon edition costs Rs 68,250 which makes it the most affordable ABS bike on sale in India.
