While several brands were missing from the 2021 EICMA show in Milan, the motoring event witnessed a good amount of action. Here we bring you the top five unveils of the annual motoring event in Milan, Italy.
Royal Enfield Interceptor INT 650 and Continental GT 650 120th Anniversary Editions
The special-edition Royal Enfield Interceptor INT 650 and Continental GT 650 celebrate the company’s 120th anniversary and they will be available in limited numbers. Royal Enfield will manufacture just 480 units of these motorcycles and distribute them evenly across India, South-East Asia, America, and Europe. The 480 units include 240 Interceptor INT 650s and 240 Continental GT 650s. All markets mentioned earlier will get 60 units, each of both motorcycles. The company will open the online sale for the 120th Year Anniversary Edition models in the Indian market on 6 December, 2021.
In terms of design, these special edition models get a black-chrome colour scheme, hand-painted pinstripes, and completely blacked out engine and silencer units. The motorcycles will also come equipped with a range of Genuine Motorcycle Accessories such as flyscreens, engine guards, heel guards, and touring and bar end mirrors. Apart from these styling upgrades, the limited-edition Interceptor INT 650 and Continental GT 650 will also get a unique, handcrafted, die-cast brass tank badge. The tank top badge will feature the unique serial number of each motorcycle. Moreover, the motorcycles will also adorn a side panel decal that is a special ode to Royal Enfield’s 120 years.
Royal Enfield SG650 Concept
Apart from the limited-edition 650 Twins, Royal Enfield has also unveiled an all-new concept called the SG650 Twin at the 2021 EICMA show. While Royal Enfield hasn’t mentioned it in its release, we know that SG stands for Shotgun and this concept should act as the base for the company’s upcoming bobber-styled motorcycle. The Shotgun brand name was revealed through leaked patent documents.
The styling cues on the concept motorcycle include a single floating-style seat, a short tubular handlebar, chopped front and rear fender, bar-end mirrors, and chunky tyres. A unique styling element on the concept motorcycle is the digital graphics that are visible throughout the bodywork and the 650cc parallel-twin engine. Other styling elements on the SG650 concept include a CNC billet machine fuel tank, wheels made of a solid aluminium block, dual disc brakes at the front, upside down front forks, and a hand-stitched black leather seat.
The production-spec model will be toned-down and we would see fewer features on the final product that should arrive sometime next year.
Honda 350 Adventure Scooter
Honda utilised the motoring event in Italy to unveil its new scooter that features adventure bike traits. It is called the ADV 350 and has been developed for European and American markets. Thus, we would not get it in the Indian market. Nevertheless, it’s an interesting product and it deserved a mention in our list.
The new Honda ADV 350 draws styling cues from the X-ADV, but it is based on the Forza 350. It features large body panels, a tall windscreen, a massive 48-litre underseat storage, a USB charging port, and a glovebox. This Honda also gets an LCD instrument cluster and a smart key system. The Honda ADV 350 rides on 37mm USD forks at the front, instead of the 33mm that is seen on the Forza 350. The wheels are 15-inch at the front and 14-inch at the back, and the tyres get dual-sport treatment.
Aprilia SR GT Range
Aprilia unveiled its SR GT series that will compete in the maxi-scooter market. The new SR GT range will be offered with two engine options – 125cc and 200cc. The company will also offer the SR GT in a Sport trim that will get more sports-oriented graphics and finishes. Both variants of the SR GT range get features such as Start & Stop system, full LED lights, and an LCD instrument cluster as standard. The APRILIA MIA connectivity system is available as an optional extra.
In terms of styling, the new SR GT range draws design cues from Aprilia sports and off-road bikes. Both scooters come equipped with a motorcycle-inspired wide handlebar, long-travel suspension, increased ground clearance, and cross-section. At the front, these scooters feature a full-LED three-element light setup, a double fairing, and a suspended windscreen.
The SR GT 125 uses a 125cc, single-cylinder motor that is claimed to generate 14.75bhp at 8,750rpm and 12Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm. The SR GT 200, on the other hand, comes equipped with a 174cc, single-cylinder motor that makes 17.43bhp at 8,500rpm and 16.5Nm of torque at 7,000rpm.
Yamaha Tenere 700 Raid Prototype
Yamaha presented a prototype version of its drool-worthy Tenere 700. This bike is called the Tenere 700 Raid. This more hardcore ADV version of the Tenere gets a new suspension system. The Kayaba units are adjustable, and they also feature increased suspension travel. In terms of performance, the Tenere 700 Raid gets a new airbox and filter. The radiator is bigger, too, and gets an oil cooler. Then there’s the custom ECU and full titanium Akrapovic exhaust present to churn out maximum performance.
