We kick-started the second season of the Bike Wale Podcast by catching up with Tork Motors’ CEO and founder, Kapil Shelke. The company recently launched an electric motorcycle which, it claims, is entirely made in India. We also got to ride the bike for some time and you can read its first ride review here. As for this episode of the podcast, we asked a set of questions to Kapil emphasising his and the brand’s journey so far and their ambitions. The Spotify link to the episode is attached below.
Kapil Shelke’s racing history
As a part of his college project, Kapil, along with his classmates, built an electric motorcycle. Coincidently, this was in the same year when organisers of the legendary Isle of Man TT races introduced a category for electric motorcycles and were inviting participants from across the globe. Now, Kapil’s narration of how he and his team flew down to the island and how they performed there is an interesting one. Click on the podcast to listen to it.
Why Kratos took so long?
Tork had showcased its first electric motorcycle, christened the T6X, in 2016. What a lot of people perceived to be a production electric bike up for sale was actually a pre-production model exhibited to gauge the audience’s response. This was followed by the commencement of the Kratos’ development and testing. But then what took the company so long to roll out the final product? Listen to Kapil talk about the challenges they faced during the development at length.
