Tork T6X electric bike spotted testing in India

- It will be the first production electric bike in India

- Expected to be launched by the end of 2019 or early 2020

- Its 6kW motor generates 27Nm of torque and can reach 100kmph speed

Tork T6X electric motorcycle has been spotted testing on the Indian roads for the first time, with camouflage-covered body panels. The Pune-based startup is apparently readying the bike for its India launch which is expected to happen by the end of 2019 or early 2020. Apart from the styling, the spy shots reveal some interesting details about the motorcycle.

On the cosmetic front, the near-production motorcycle looks similar to the model that was unveiled by the company. It sports a tiny headlamp surrounded by a cowl, fuel tank-like storage box along with sharp extensions to make it look sleek. The rear section has an exposed frame which will be covered with plastic panels on the final version. It incorporates a single-unit handlebar which assists in lending an upright riding stance along with slightly rear-set footpegs.

Powering the Tork T6X is a 6kW motor which is claimed to generate an impressive 27Nm of torque. The company had revealed that the battery can be charged to 80 per cent in just one hour and can deliver maximum range of 100km. Moreover, it can also touch a top speed of 100kmph. The electric motor looks to have been placed between the swingarm and it transfers power to the rear wheel via a chain drive. The T6X is based on a steel trellis frame which holds the battery pack as the stressed member.

The alloy wheels are suspended on telescopic forks on the front and monoshock at the rear. For braking, it gets disc brakes on both the ends along with CBS safety net, which is mandatory for electric bikes with up to 11kW motor. On the feature front, it will get a 4.3-inch TFT instrument cluster along with halogen headlamp and LED turn indicators.

Once it is launched, the Tork T6X will be the first production electric motorcycle in India. The company had opened pre-bookings in 2016 and it was priced at Rs 1.25 lakhs (ex-showroom). However, the final pricing during the launch is expected to be around Rs 1.5 lakhs. Tork aims it to compete against models powered by combustion engine such as the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, KTM 200 Duke and Bajaj Pulsar RS200
