- It looks closer to production
- Gets a 6kW motor than churns out 27Nm of torque
- Expected to be launched by the end of 2019 or early 2020
Tork Motorcycles is likely to launch the T6X electric bike in the months to come as the motorcycle was spied testing for the second time. The Pune-based startup had unveiled the T6X in 2016. At the same time, the introductory pricing of Rs 1.25 lakhs (ex-showroom) was announced and pre-booking had also commenced.
The recently spied motorcycle was covered in camouflage, similar to the previously spotted mule. However, the earlier bike had a different alloy design for the front wheel, an exposed trellis frame and a camouflaged battery pack. Now, though, the test mule looks nearer to the production-ready stage due to the presence of side panels and alloy wheel design similar to the model unveiled in 2016.
Coming to the details we know so far, the Tork T6X is powered by a 6kW motor that is capable of generating 27Nm of peak torque. The company claims the battery can be charged up to 80 per cent in an hour while providing a range of 100km on a full-charge. Moreover, it can reach a top speed of 100kmph, claims the manufacturer. The T6X is based on a steel trellis frame which uses the battery pack as the stressed member.
In terms of features, it gets a 4.3-inch TFT instrument cluster, four riding modes and LED turn indicators. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic front forks and rear monoshock while braking is handled by disc brakes at both ends. The braking setup is assisted by CBS (combined braking system) which is mandatory for electric bikes with up to a 11kW motor.
With the T6X, Tork Motorcycles aims to compete against petrol-powered bikes such as the KTM 200 Duke and the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V. The launch of the T6X has been awaited since its unveiling in 2016. However, it is expected to be available by the end of this year or early 2020. The introductory price of Rs 1.25 lakhs is also expected to receive a considerable hike.
