- New Expedition model added to the range
- Gets new functional add-ons over the base model
- Houses a KTM borrowed 899cc parallel-twin motor
Husqvarna has taken the wraps off its latest ADV offering, the Norden 901 Expedition. It’s been unveiled overseas and here’s what we know about the new Husqy adventure bike.
The Swedish bike maker has made some significant updates to improve the overall usability of the Norden. In its Expedition trim, the 901 features a new fully adjustable WP EXPLOR suspension with 240mm travel at both ends. This allows the rider to set up the bike as per his/her liking and even the weight that will be added as well as the terrain that the bike will be ridden on. Moreover, the front visor is now larger than before for better wind deflection and Husqvarna has also added heated grips for added convenience.
Other updates like the new soft luggage setup that can be mounted on the fixed point have also been added to the list of updates. Husqvarna will offer the Norden 901 Expedition with a new paint scheme of grey. That said, it has retained all the design cues from the standard model. So, the round LED headlight, slim tank, long seat, and upswept exhaust have remained unaltered.
It continues to draw power from a KTM-sourced 899cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled motor with the output rated at 103bhp and 100NM. It’s mated to a six-speed gearbox. The Norden rides on spoked wheels wrapped in dual-purpose tyres and gets dual front and a single rear disc with switchable dual-channel ABS.
In the UK, the Husqvarna Norden 901 Expedition is priced at GBP 13,599 (approximately Rs 13.45 lakh sans taxes). For reference, the Triumph Tiger 900 Rally costs Rs 14.35 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). That said, the only two models from Husqvarna on sale in India are the Svartpilen and Vitpilen 250. And we don’t expect the Norden to make its debut here anytime soon.
