Triumph has silently taken the wraps off its latest Tiger offering called the Tiger Sport 800. Yes, it replaces the previously offered Tiger 850 Sport. That said, the new Tiger Sport 800 not only borrows its name from the Tiger Sport 660 but also the styling.
The Tiger Sport 800 gets a split LED headlight similar to the 660 but a pair of boomerang-shaped LEDs also sit in between. It is topped by a transparent visor up top, gets muscular body panels all over and a single-piece seat. Triumph has unveiled the Tiger Sport 800 in the international market and is offering it in four colours - Sapphire Black, Caspian Blue, Cosmic Yellow, and Graphite.
Powering the Tiger Sport 800 is a 798cc inline three-cylinder engine that makes 113bhp and 84Nm. It is linked to a six-speed gearbox and benefits from a bi-directional quickshifter as well as a slip-and-assist clutch.
Triumph has equipped the Tiger Sport 800 with three riding modes - road, rain, and sport, cornering ABS, switchable traction control, cruise control, adjustable visor, and LED illumination. You can also add heated grips, TPMS, and a few more accessories at an added cost.
The Tiger Sport 800 is a road-going motorcycle and gets the hardware for the same purpose. Hence, it sports Showa USD front forks, with adjustable compression and rebound along with a Showa monoshock. Its braking hardware comprises dual 310mm front discs and a single 255mm rear disc mounted on 17-inch wheels.
Triumph is currently selling the Tiger Sport 800 in the international market only and it is priced at GBP 11,095 (approximately Rs. 12.07 lakh sans taxes). We expect Triumph to bring the Tiger Sport 800 to India soon and once launched it will rival the BMW F 900 XR.
