Triumph’s sub-300cc motorcycle spied testing

Doesn't that picture give you an impression of the Triumph Street Triple? But no, it is one of the sub-300c motorcycles that Triumph is working on for developing markets like India. The test mule that was spied by a team at Rideapart didn't sport any camouflage.

At first glance the twin headlamps may make you think it is a Street Triple but once you go through the detailing, you will see that it’s a small capacity motorcycle. The slim forks and thin tyres add to the belief. The motorcycle has a bulging tank and split grab rails and the engine that is likely to be a single cylinder 250cc motor has an underbelly pan. The spy shots also show it has has a single front disc brake with a two-piston sliding caliper.

This small capacity Triumph is expected to be a global model and will be unveiled soon. We won’t be surprised if we see this motorcycle at next month’s EICMA event in Italy. The British manufacturer has confirmed making India as their global manufacturing hub for emerging markets. The company bought land in the Narsapura area in Bangalore few months ago and will use that land for complete manufacturing facility. A source has informed BikeWale that the first set of payment been done by the Indian arm to the Karnataka government and the facility will be completely operational by 2015.
