The TVS Apache 200 has been spotted undergoing trials in Indonesia. The spy shots indicate that the Apache 200 might be offered in more than one body style, like the Suzuki Gixxer and the Yamaha FZ-S. While the naked version is expected to get a flat handlebar, the faired version will get clip-on handlebars.
The tapered headlamp and the sculpted fuel tank seem heavily inspired by the Draken X21 concept. Going by the new crankcase design this bike sports, we could be seeing a change from the current generation Apache RTR models. The 200cc single-cylinder engine is expected to get a four valve configuration. As the engine gets a radiator as well as cooling fins, we expect it be an oil-cooled unit. Though the exhaust system gets a single canister, it gets two outlets similar to the one in the Gixxer.
The front of the Apache 200 continues with the conventional telescopic forks configuration, though the rear tyre now rides on a monoshock unit (a first for TVS). With both wheels getting petal disc brakes, we can safely expect TVS to offer ABS from the Apache RTR 180. The tail lamp assembly gets LED units, while the instrument cluster is made up of a single LCD display. The test mules were running on IRC Road Winner tubeless tyres, though the company might offer different set of rubbers on the production model.
Though these prototypes seem to be in early stage of development, we can expect the final production model be ready in time for the 2016 Auto Expo. The TVS Apache 200 will compete with the likes of Bajaj Pulsar AS200, Hero Karizma and the KTM Duke 200.
