The upcoming TVS Apache RR 310S/ Akula 310 has been spotted once again. There has been a fair amount of conversation about this bike because of its relation to theBMW G310R. The bike which was spotted had been neatly camouflaged. But it still reveals enough to give us an insight intowhat one can expect in the new bike. This is the first fully fairedmotorcycle to be produced by TVS and it is expected to be launched later this year, ahead of the arrival of BMW G310R in India.
The Akula 310 will be powered by the same 313cc engine used in the BMW G310R that generates 33bhp of power. The engine will be mated to a six-speed transmission and based on what can be see, it will share components like the exhaust and wheel rims from the upcoming BMW motorcycle. Moreover, the production-spec bike will also get LED DRLs, projector headlamps, monoshock suspension at the rear, vertically stacked digital instrument cluster, an LED tail-light and turn indicators. Reports indicate that ABS might be offered as an optional.
The test mule featured Pirelli tyres and we expect it to be offered as a standard feature on the production model. Post launch, the fully faired Apache RR310R aka Akula 310 will compete against the likes of KTM RC 390, Kawasaki Ninja 300, Yamaha YZFR3 and Benelli Tornado 302. Although the pricing aspect will be known at a later date, we anticipate that the motorcycle will be priced atRs 2.0 lakh (Ex-showroom).
Based on what can be seen, the bike resembles the all-sporty Akula Concept which was last seen at the 2016 Auto Expo event in the country. Technology sharing with the BMW has also made it one of the most promising bike for the year. Manufacturing it locallywill indeed help TVS price its competitively in that segment.
