The TVS Apache RTR 160 has been due for an update for a long time and the spy pictures now confirm that a new generation of the bike is bound soon. TVS fans, huzzah!
The bike seems to share its design with its bigger sibling, the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V. It even gets the same exhaust as the latter. TVS’s entry level sports motorcycle gets a monoshock at the rear and conventional forks at the front. Stopping power comes from a single disc at the front while the rear sports a drum brake. Although easily mistaken as the RTR 200 4V with its distinctive LED tail and overall design, the skinny tyres on the 160 give it away.
The current Apache 160 delivers 15.2bhp at 8,500 rpm and 13.1Nm torque at 4,000 rpm via a 5 speed transmission. We expect the Apache to deliver around the same power figures. Although there has been no official confirmation regarding the launch date of the bike, the refreshed model will surely boost the brand’s share in the 160cc segment. When launched, the bike will compete against the recently launched Bajaj Pulsar NS160, Suzuki Gixxer, Honda Hornet 160R and the FZ-S FI 2.0.
