TVS has launched the BS6-compliant Apache RTR 180 in India. Here we list out five highlights of the newly updated motorcycle in the Apache range.
Styling
TVS hasn’t tinkered with the Apache RTR 180’s distinctive styling for 2020. The naked motorcycle continues to get an aggressive design with ‘frown-shaped’ LED DRLs, a muscular fuel tank and a sculpted tail section. Furthermore, it also retains the gold-finished fork bottles and is offered in four colour schemes.
More powerful BS6-compliant motor
While there isn’t much change to the exterior of the 2020 Apache RTR 180, the most important upgrade comes in the form of the revised engine. This 177cc, single-cylinder motor is now fuel-injected and produces 16.5bhp; 0.2bhp more than the BS4 motor. Nevertheless, the torque figures remain the same at 15.5Nm.
Added feature
TVS has equipped the Apache RTR 180 BS6 with its Glide Through Technology (GTT). This feature negates the synchronization of the clutch lever release and throttle input during starts which eliminates engine stalling. Apart from this, the motorcycle comes with an LCD display and single-channel ABS as standard.
Revised dimensions
The addition of the fuel-injection system and components to make it BS6 compliant have made the Apache RTR 180 2kg heavier than the previous model and it now weighs 141kg. Furthermore, TVS has also shortened the wheelbase by 26mm (1,300mm) and increased the ground clearance by 5mm (170mm).
Pricing
The TVS Apache RTR 180 BS6 costs Rs 1.01 lakhs. That is a premium of Rs nearly Rs 7,000 over the BS4 model which was priced at Rs 94,746.
