- Apache RTE electric sports bike unveiled
- Gets carbon fibre components
- Top speed of 200kmph
TVS has once again introduced an electric sports bike for racing in India. This bike is called the Apache RTE and has been developed by TVS with the help of a few partners.
The Apache RTE is an electric sports bike that can reach a top speed of 200kmph. This motorcycle is quite rare and special as the bike has been built around a carbon fibre chassis, which is also the battery case. The seat is placed on a full carbon fibre unit which also acts as a subframe.
The Hosur-based company has equipped the RTE with a lot of top-spec components like Ohlins suspension and Brembo braking system. The Pirelli Super Corsa tyres have been used to churn out maximum grip. To get the highest power-to-weight ratio, carbon fibre wheels have been used.
In terms of performance, the brand hasn’t revealed many details but the riding range of the bike is around 50kms in one full charge. The overall charging time ranges between an hour to two. During the One Make Championship last weekend, the bike was the fastest at 1 minute 48 seconds.
As of now, TVS has no plans to launch an electric motorcycle in the near future, but when it does, the company will already have the Apache RTE brand to take advantage of. There will be a lot of learnings from this race bike, which is likely to help the brand with the development of electric bikes in the future.
