- Gets two hydrogen fuel canisters near the front apron
- Could also get a battery for added assistance
- Still in its early stages
While electric scooters and motorcycles are already being viewed as alternatives to petrol-powered vehicles, TVS seems to be working out another option as well. Its Hydrogen scooter patent details have been leaked online and here’s what we understand from it.
The image you see above is of a scooter that packs two hydrogen (fuel) canisters inside the apron. These can be fueled like a normal scooter at any hydrogen refueling station. Furthermore, a pipe connects the two cans and a nozzle above (on the apron) will be the tank’s opening.
It also seems that TVS could equip the scooter with an electric battery pack for assistance. Located below the seat, the battery pack could be charged via regenerative braking or the fuel cells too and come into the application when the vehicle runs out of hydrogen. Elsewhere, the scooter appears to get a hub-mounted motor similar to the one we see on its current electric scooter, the iQube.
As of now, there is no publicly available hydrogen charging station. And considering the growth of EVs as well as the nascent stage developments of hydrogen-powered two-wheelers, the latter won’t be heading to India anytime soon.
