-Plans to launch six motorcycles over the next three years
-First new motorcycle to be launched next year
-To be launched in India soon
Norton Motorcycles, the legendary British motorcycle manufacturer, now under the ownership of TVS has announced its plans for the future. The company plans to launch as many as six, brand-new motorcycles over the next three years. More importantly, Norton Motorcycles will debut in India soon.
The TVS Motor Company will invest in the engineering as well as research and development of these motorcycles. The company will also aggressively work towards the expansion of Norton’s presence across the world. Besides India, plans are to increase sales through partners in the USA, Germany, Italy and France.
Word is that while the company will introduce new motorcycles, these will bear a premium price tag. At present, motorcycles like the Norton 961 Commando as well as the VRSV are quite expensive.
It’ll be interesting to see what type of motorcycles the company comes up with and what price points they’ll target. Pricing, after all, is crucial in a price sensitive market like India.
Besides these announcements, TVS has also assembled a new senior leadership team for Norton Motorcycles. The company has been busy extracting Norton from the various issues that it was buried under. There were unfulfilled orders and employee pensions that were held up. TVS says that it has managed to fulfill orders and is now focused on growing the Norton brand.
