- TVS sold 265,679 units in July this year
- Had dispatched 307,856 units in the corresponding month last year
- Sales have dropped in both domestic and export markets
TVS Motor Company has recorded a 13.7 per cent decline in its overall two-wheeler sales in July which includes domestic as well as exports. While the company had sold 307,856 units in July 2018, the sales dropped down to 265,679 units in the same month this year.
Talking about domestic sales, the Hosur-based manufacturer fetched 208,489 customers in July 2019, which slipped down from 247,382 dispatches in the corresponding month last year. As for the exports, the number saw a slump from 60,474 units to 57,190 units in the same month. Taking the motorcycle and scooter sales into account, both the segments witnessed a similar decline in sales of around 11 per cent with domestic and export numbers combined.
Just like the entire Indian two-wheeler market, TVS has been registering a consistent decline in sales over the last few months. This can be attributed to the deteriorating economy of the country and soaring prices of two-wheelers due to the implementation of new safety norms and increased insurance costs. However, the sales are expected to see an incremented in the upcoming festive season. Subsequently, TVS will also start introducing BS VI-compliant models after the first half of the current financial year. It is also worth noting that unlike a majority of TVS models, which have been garnering fewer buyers, the sales of the Ntorq 125 scooter have been on a consistent rise.
