TVS has posted a 33.5 per cent growth in domestic two-wheeler sales in February 2018 as compared to February 2017. The company sold 2.30 lakh two-wheelers in the last month, reinforcing its position as the country’s third largest two-wheeler manufacturer.
The company’s motorcycle range continues to be the biggest contributor to the overall numbers. TVS sold 1.13 lakh motorcycles in February 2018, which is 92 per cent more than the motorcycle sales in February 2017. Scooter sales grew from 69,020 units in February 2017 to 93,573 units in the last month, which is a 35.5 per cent increase. Even the export numbers recorded a 50.4 per cent growth, jumping from 33,636 units in February 2017 to 50,589 units in February 2018.
TVS’ growth has been propelled by the XL 100 and the Jupiter, both of which are sold in excess of 65,000 units every month. The Jupiter also happens to be the second largest selling scooter in India, behind the Honda Activa. As for motorcycles, the Apache continues to be the best-selling model.
