- TVS sales drop by 9 per cent in the domestic market
- 1.31 lakh motorcycles sold last month
- Exports grow by 4 per cent
TVS Motor Company has registered a 9 per cent drop in sales in the Indian market for June 2019. The Chennai-based manufacturer sold 2.26 lakh motorcycles and scooters last month as compared to the 2.46 lakh units sold in June 2018.
As for exports, the numbers went from 55,025 units in June last year to 57,182 units in June 2019 resulting in a 4 per cent growth. With domestic and export numbers combined, TVS clocked a sale of 2.83 lakh units last month. However, compared to the 3.01 lakhs sales number of June 2018, the overall sales declined by 5.8 per cent.
Out of this number, motorcycles contributed to 1.31 lakh sales last month growing from 1.28 lakh in June 2018. On the other hand, scooter sales for the company declined by 3.8 per cent. TVS sold 99,007 scooters as against the 1.02 lakh scooters it sold in the same month last year.
In an attempt to attract more customers to the brand, TVS introduced new colours for the Ntorq 125. It also launched the 2019 Apache RR 310 which comes with a slipper clutch and a new matte black colour option. As for future plans, we expect TVS to update a couple of their existing products to further strengthen their hold in the country.
