The TVS Akula 310 concept motorcycle which was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo was recently spotted on test. We shared a picture of the motorcycle along with a predicted launch date. It seems like we weren’t very far off, the President and CEO of the company was quoted saying that the motorcycle will hit showrooms this financial year.
President and CEO K.N.Radhakrishnan also said the company's capex this year will be around Rs 400 crore and the existing production capacity will provide for the next 18 months. He was quoted saying, "This fiscal, we will launch our 310cc motorcycle. Before the end of this fiscal we want to do some volumes."
The concept displayed at the Auto Expo was wrapped in a carbon fibre body and was sitting on adjustable suspension and featured a steering damper to stress on its track focus, which mostly won’t make it to the road-ready version.
Nonetheless, those who were disappointed with delay of the launch of the BMW G310R can now rejoice since this motorcycle is basically a faired version of it. The Akula has been built on the BMW G310R platform. It gets a liquid cooled 313cc single cylinder petrol mill mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The engine develops 34bhp of power and 28Nm of torque. The concept also gets adjustable suspension, a steering damper to stress on its track focus, which mostly won’t make it to the road-ready version.
Expect this motorcycle from the Indian manufacturer to be priced between Rs 1.8 lakh to Rs 2 lakh.
