- Designed with supersport specs, offering superior grip and performance levels
Indian two- and three-wheeler tyre manufacturer, TVS Tyres, will soon be expanding its product portfolio by launching new tyres for performance-oriented motorcycles. Due to be launched in the next three months, the new tyre design will be called ‘Extreme’ and will be offered under the company's Protorq performance tyre brand.
The Protorq Extreme tyres have been designed with W rating, which means, they will be capable of withstanding a maximum speed of 270kph. These radial tyres feature a Zero Degree steel belt construction which helps in attaining more stability at higher speeds. The tread pattern is designed to achieve a low rolling resistance while the lighter construction and rounded profile aids in better precision and accuracy when riding. Lastly, the deep grooves contribute to improving grip and braking in wet conditions
The new performance tyres will be initially available in two sizes. For the front, Protorq Extreme XF will be available in 110/70 ZR17, while for the rear, Protorq Extreme SR will be offered in 150/60 ZR17. With those sizes, these tyres can be installed on small-displacement performance bikes like the TVS Apache RR310, KTM RC 390/ 390 Duke and the Yamaha YZF-R3.
Expect the Protorq Extreme tyres to be priced competitively compared to other imported brands in the market. In terms of price expectations, we believe TVS Tyres could likely mark up the front tyre at around Rs 6,000-7,000, while the rear could fetch a price of around Rs 8,000-9,000.
