- India launch unlikely
TVS-owned British bikemaker, Norton Motorcycles has commenced the deliveries of its first batch of the V4SV superbike. Its production began last year after TVS bought the English firm and revived its operations.
Norton has been actively working on the production as well as the booking front for the V4SV, Commando 961, SP, and the Classics. And now, the deliveries for its supersports have commenced. The asking price for the V4SV is set to GBP 44,000 (approximately Rs 43.75 lakh sans taxes).
Norton has powered the V4SV by a 1,200cc V4 engine. It dishes out 185bhp and 125Nm and is nestled in a tubular frame. The motor is mated to a six-speed gearbox and gets a bi-directional quick-shifter too. The setup is suspended on Ohlins-sourced NIX30 front forks and TTXGP Norton bespoke rear mono-shock. Meanwhile, the braking hardware comprises twin 330mm rotors at the front and a single 245mm disc from Brembo.
As for the features, it gets full-LED lighting, a six-inch colour TFT console with auto brightness adjustment, a rearview camera, six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit, include lean-sensitive traction control, three engine modes (Wet, Road, and Sport), ABS, keyless ignition system with electronic steering lock.
While Norton is back on the track after the TVS ownership, it’s unlikely to enter the Indian market anytime soon.
