After quite a hiatus, Ultraviolette was finally back in action with the launch of the heavily updated F77. The updates were software and hardware; we recently rode it on Ultraviolette’s home turf. Here’s what transpired through our first ride.
On the design front, the bike looks very futuristic and sporty. The designer for the F77 is none other than an ex-employee of Kiska design, the same firm that sketched the KTMs. So, the sharp and youthful styling is evident and complements its fast-paced nature.
The overall build quality is quite likable and the panel fitments are consistent for the most part. Even with a larger battery pack than before, the bodywork houses it well, courtesy of the sharp panels. It gets LED illumination entirely and the triangular tail light also adds to the visual charm.
Ultraviolette has powered the F77 Recon with a 10.3kWh battery pack whereas the standard model gets a 7.1kWh unit. The claimed timing for a full charge is 7-10 hours but it can be reduced to 3.5 hours with the company’s 3kW Boost charger.
While the Recon model claims to offer 307km of range, the standard packs enough juice for 206km. Not to mention, the Recon trim offers the most range on an electric motorcycle in India. The two also differ in terms of motor output since the F77 Recon gets 95Nm with a claimed top speed of 147kmph.
While the bike's rear end adds to the visual appeal, it can also be a little cumbersome for slightly shorter or concisely built riders to swing a leg over. But once on the saddle, putting both your feet on the ground is manageable, thanks to the slimmer tank portion. Even though the clip-on handlebars depict a slightly aggressive riding posture, the reach to it is sufficient.
The overall posture doesn’t feel stressed and the rider seat has enough cushion and space for you to move around.
The bike also feels friendly on the performance front. For safety and the ease of riding, the F77 switches to Combat or Ballistic modes only after treading through Glide mode. In its slowest mode, the F77 gets a top speed of 70kmph which seems reasonable. But once you switch to Combat, the surge in power delivery is evident and exciting.
But what about its braking, suspension, and comfort? And is worth spending Rs 3.80 lakh for the standard F77 model or Rs 4.55 lakh on the Recon? Head here to read our full review where talk about all the aforementioned points in detail.
