UM Motorcycles has more than a couple of tricks up its sleeves for India in 2019. One of these will be a 150cc scooter called Chill. Here's what you can expect from the upcoming scooter.
Design
Classic designs seem to be a trend in the modern day world and UM will soon be part of the pattern with the Chill. The scooter sports a classic-inspired design with curvy rear-section and a chrome strip running on the edge of its bodywork similar to that seen on Vespa scooters. The Chill gets a hexagonal headlamp to complete its retro character. It also rides on multi-spoke alloy wheels that look interesting.
Furthermore, UM has equipped the Chill with a white background retro instrument console, a storage compartment in the front apron and large underseat space. The UM Chill scooter will be available in four colour schemes of white, blue, black and red.
Engine
The engine specifications of the scooter are yet to be revealed but it is expected to be powered by a 149cc, 2-valve motor mated to a CVT gearbox.
Cycle Parts
The UM Chill's uniqueness comes in its braking hardware. While there is a disc at the front, the rear too comes with a disc brake; a first for any scooter in India. It is also likely to get a single-channel ABS to comply with the upcoming mandate. The scooter rides on telescopic forks up front with a 12-inch wheel and a monoshock at the rear with a 10-inch wheel.
Pricing
We expect UM to price the Chill competitively around Rs 70,000-75,000 to take on the Vespa 150cc range which costs over a lakh. It is likely to make its debut in India by August this year.
